SCHOOL CLOSURE

18th March 2020

Dear Parents,
As of this evening, I have more staff who are now self isolating so tomorrow I will only have a very skeleton staff. Therefore, I would ask that you do not send your children into school tomorrow and Friday this week, unless you have no alternative child care. This is assuming we have enough staff to open on Friday. If your child is in year 3,4, 5 or 6 they need to enter via Sycamore class and if your child is in N,R,1 or 2 they need to enter via the nursery/Ash class. Breakfast club will operate as normal.

In light of the news this evening, school will close this Friday 20th March to all children unless you are a parent/s who works in front line services i.e. NHS staff, carers, police officers, community support officers, prison officers, probation service staff, fire service, teachers/nursery nurses, social workers, educational psychologists, therapists, local authority planners, ministry of defence personnel, environmental health officers, highways traffic officers and supermarket workers and delivery drivers and/or a parent of a child/ren who is vulnerable e.g. has an educational health care plan, social services involvement - these families the school will contact individually.

Again, assuming there are enough staff to cope, school will open on Monday 23rd March, ONLY for parents working in front line services and/or vulnerable children.

If you are a parent in a front line service, please email the office with proof of your employment or show a member of staff in the school office in the next day or two so that we can have an idea of pupil numbers.

As this is an evolving situation and staffing levels are changing daily I will need to update parents each day as to whether school will be open for those children attending. I will confirm once I know the position regarding school dinners as if this continues it is likely to be a reduced service and less options.

These are unprecedented circumstances and I appreciate that it is both an anxious and uncertain time for all of us; we will endeavour to support our families as much as we can and for those of you already in isolation we will be in touch from afar.

Keep safe and keep checking emails. Thank you for your understanding.
Regards
Mrs Johnston-Grant
