Snow and Boiler Issue
Thank you for your patience and understanding this week in light of the need to close the school due to the snow and our boiler malfunction. I appreciate that this has been an inconvenience to many of you and impacts on those of you who have needed to take time off work.
The decision to keep the school closed at any time is not taken lightly and is based on the need to ensure the health and safety of everyone. Irrespective of the boiler issue the school would have been shut at the beginning of the week due to poor site safety and severe traveling conditions caused by the snow and black ice.
Unfortunately for us the situation was further compounded by problems with the boiler. We were advised at the beginning of the week that due to high pressure issues, the boiler system could have resulted in a pipe bursting in the school thus putting everyone at risk. A specialist engineering company has visited the site today and made our system safe whilst we wait for new parts. Therefore school will be open on Friday 15th December so that we can enjoy the last few days of this festive period.
Tomorrow we will have our Christmas grotto as planned but the disco has been rebooked for Friday 5th January 2018. The pantomime and the KS1 nativity have been deferred to the start of next term and new dates will be circulated once confirmed. Please note that year 4 will be swimming tomorrow as planned.
Next Monday we look forward to Christmas lunch and the entertainer and our Church Christmas service on Tuesday 19th at 9am. We will draw our raffle at the church service and notify winners as soon as possible.
Thank you once again for your understanding in the matter.
Mrs Kate Johnston-Grant
